Caring for a parent after a fall or an accident, at home in Riyadh

She has recovered from the fracture. What has not recovered is her confidence, and she has stopped walking to the kitchen in case it happens again.

Signs it may be time for help

  1. 1

She is holding furniture to move around the house.

  2. 2

She has stopped going out, and stopped inviting people in.

  3. 3

A cast or brace that nobody at home knows how to keep clean and dry.

  4. 4

Sleeping in a chair because getting in and out of bed hurts.

  5. 5

    One fall has become two.

What care at home actually looks like

After a fall, the injury heals faster than the fear does. Both need work.

Mornings start with the things that hurt most — washing and dressing around a cast or a brace, done slowly, with pain relief timed to come before the movement rather than after it.

Then walking. A little further each day, with someone beside her rather than holding her, because being held is what teaches a person she cannot do it alone.

The house is quietly made safer as the week goes on: the rug that slides, the light in the hallway, the chair that is too low, the bathroom with nothing to hold.

And she is encouraged back into the ordinary things — making her own tea, sitting with the family rather than in her room.

How our carers are trained for this

  • Cast and brace care

Keeping it clean and dry, and watching skin, swelling and circulation.

  • Rebuilding confidence walking

Progressive support, so she regains independence rather than relying on an arm.

  • Fall prevention at home

Floors, lighting, bathroom and bed height, changed without turning the home into a ward.

  • Pain timed around movement

So that the hardest parts of the day are the least painful.

What it costs

Recovery care is usually a few weeks. The cost depends on hours and level of care; the home assessment is free and comes with a written quote the same day.

What families ask us

Most families book three to six weeks and then reduce the hours. Contracts are monthly with two weeks' notice.
